Dorset Art Week
29th May—13th June, see work by Frances and Claire Hinks on display in the Vicarage—11am –5pm daily, Friday until 8pm—closed Tuesday 1st & 8th June. Ruth Oaks is showing works too at Poole Printmakers, New Orchard, off Poole High Street.
Open Garden
David and Faye Reeves have kindly offered to open their garden at 19 Lindsay Road on Sunday 13th June between 2pm—5pm. Volunteers are requested to man the gate, raffle and plant stall. If you can help, please speak to David Reeves or Sam Waldron. Admission and proceeds raised will be donated to our church funds. For further details see poster in the new magazine or at the back of church.
Sunday School Art Work
The work Sunday School completed with fibre artist Yvonne Morton will be exhibited from 19th June—25th June at Walford Mill Crafts Centre, Wimborne.
St. Aldhelm’s Family Camp
We shall be holding another parish family camp on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June at East Stoke near Wareham. (Same site as last year). To reserve your pitch please see Heidi or Steve Moxam. Cost is £12 per night plus £1 per night for electric. This is a quiet field set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Directions and details at the back of church.

Deputy Head of St. Aldhelm’s School
Last month we announced that Mrs Sue Palmer, Deputy Headteacher, is going to retire at the end of the summer term following 17 years of dedicated service to our school. There were three candidates to scrutinise and we are please to say succeeding Mrs Palmer will be Mrs Cathie Bolton currently a Key Stage 3 coordinator, Year 7 class teacher, Information technology coordinator, participates with school budgets and participated with the Year 7 ski course to Switzerland. Thanks go to our Headteacher Neil Revell for organising the interview process and fellow Governors Mandy Gridley and Pam Ketteridge who served on the appointment panel.
An Exchange to Salzburg
Is anyone interested in an exchange stay? Frances has been contacted by a friend in Salzburg who is wondering if there is a potential exchange student among us: the family have 2 girls aged 14 & 16. Please call at the Vicarage if you would like to know more.

Our expenditure amounts to approximately £1,400 per week. This includes £850.11 per week which goes to the Diocese for our ‘Share’. Last weeks donations were as follows: Planned Giving £ * figures not known at time of writing (including standing orders) Collections £ *. Our income tax claim produces the equivalent of an additional £170 approx. per week. The shortfall is made up from fund raising.
If you pay Income Tax, in each chair can be found a yellow giving envelope. Loose collection can be placed in these envelopes, completing the details requested (this will enable us to reclaim 28p in the £ from the Inland Revenue). If you are a non-tax payer, please put your loose collection straight into the collecting bag when this is passed round during the service.
Through our Planned Giving Scheme, church members commit a regular amount of money in order that we may be able to rely on
a predictable income to meet our needs and responsibilities. Whilst we are grateful to those who contribute through the loose collections/Gift Aid envelopes, we need new members to join the Planned Giving scheme.

Next Tuesday - St. Aldhelm’s Day
The 12 noon service will be a service of Distribution. At 7.30pm we shall be hosting one of the Archdeacon’s Visitation services. We shall be joined by many churchwarden’s from local churches as they are sworn into office. As in previous years each church puts on refreshments following this service. We wish to do the same, so are asking for volunteers to bake some cakes and for help serving. Please see Sam if you can help. Church will be open on Monday evening between 7.30pm—9.00pm if you can drop of cake donations; or at coffee morning on the Tuesday morning. Thank you. (We need to cater for about 100+ guests).

On Friday 28th May during Evensong at Salisbury Cathedral; Father Stephen will be installed as a Canon. If you would like attend the service it begins at 5.30pm and we would advise people to car share and use the park and ride scheme.

On Saturday 22nd May the Scout & Guides will be holding their summer fete in the centre and Vicarage Garden from 12—2pm. Please come along and give them your support.
Mothers’ Union Meeting
The next Mothers’ Union meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th May at 2.30pm in the lounge; guest speaker will be Mark Phillips, he will talk about his work with young offenders.
Painting the Lounge
Volunteers will be painting and decorating the lounge beginning on Thursday 20th May and Friday 21st May at 9.30am. If you are able to give a hand, please come along to the lounge. Refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. Please let Sam know if you can come. Thanks.
