PARISH NEWS

Lent “Fully Alive” & Palm Sunday Stations
Our final joint Lent course session with St. Joseph’s church will be at 6.30pm this evening, the venue is at St. Joseph’s. The first Stations of the Cross will take place at 6.00pm at St. Joseph’s.

A big thank you to everyone who helped at our Spring Fayre yesterday.

Easter Services
Full details for Holy Week and the Easter services can be found in our Parish Easter Card or on a yellow A4 piece of paper at the back of church or in the parish magazine.

Good Friday
A Good Friday Workshop will take place in the centre for anyone wishing to come along. Please wear clothes suitable for “sticking and painting” type activities. Meet at 12 noon in the centre, ending at 3pm.


Parish Magazine
The April edition of the parish magazine is available this morning at the back of church, containing all the information of events, activities and services throughout April. Thank you to the stapling team and to all who contributed an article this month.

Parish Office
The Parish Office will close on Wednesday 31st March for the Easter break.


Easter Lily Cards
If you would like to remember a loved one or friend over Easter, why not write a message on one of the Easter Lily cards which are available in a basket at the back of church. Donations towards the cards will be used for the flowers at Easter, please see Faye Pay.

Our expenditure amounts to approximately £1,400 per week.
This includes £850.11 per week which goes to the Diocese for our ‘Share’
Last weeks donations were as follows: Planned Giving £635.40 (including standing orders) Collections £239.19. Our income tax claim produces the equivalent of an additional £170 approx. per week. The shortfall is made up from fund raising.

If you pay Income Tax, in each chair can be found a yellow giving envelope. Loose collection can be placed in these envelopes, completing the details requested (this will enable us to reclaim 28p in the £ from the Inland Revenue). If you are a non-tax payer, please put your loose collection straight into the collecting bag when this is passed round during the service. Through our Planned Giving Scheme, church members commit a regular amount of money in order that we may be able to rely on a predictable income to meet our needs and responsibilities. Whilst we are grateful to those who contribute through the loose collections/Gift Aid envelopes, we need new members to join the Planned Giving scheme.

Sunday 21st March morning…
Following coffee at the end of this service we shall hold our Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Please make sure you have received both a white and green parish report. The meeting will be held here in church.

Our Church Spring Fayre will take place in the centre on Saturday 27th March between 10.30am—12.30pm. If you have any donations please bring them to the parish office. We are looking for any yellow items for the yellow tombola and bottles for the bottle tombola such as—wine, fizzy drinks, bubble bath etc. Books, toys, good quality bric-a-brac, raffle prizes. Also please cakes on the morning. Thank you.


Magazine Deadline
The magazine deadline for April is this morning; please see Sam.



Magazine Stapling
Stapling will take place on Thursday 25th in the lounge at 9.30am.

Easter Cards

PARISH NEWS

Mothering Sunday
This morning we are holding our Mothering Sunday Service and are joined by the uniformed organisations. Following the service there will be a cake stall run by the Mothers’ Union raising funds for the “Away from It All” holiday fund—helping families on low incomes to get a break.




Good Friday
After our Mothering Sunday service on 14th March there will be a meeting in church concerning the planning of this Good Friday’s three hour event for younger members of our congregation ; if you could help lend a hand in this, it would be much appreciated.

Talbot Heath School
Chamber Ensemble ‘Cantabile’ presents Requiem, Sarum Reflections, Stabat Mater here at St. Aldhelm’s on Tuesday 16th March at 7.30pm. Retiring collection.

Spring Fayre
Our Church Spring Fayre will take place in the centre on Saturday 27th March between 10.30am—12.30pm. If you have any donations please bring them to the parish office.

Father Stephen will be at the local radio station Hope FM—90.1fm for “Thought of the Day” which begins at 7.40am on Wednesday 17th March.



Annual Parochial Church Meeting
The AGPCM will take place in church on Sunday 21st March following the 10am Eucharist and coffee.Parish Report: These are available from this Sunday at the back of church.

Sunday School—21st Mar
Just a quick reminder that Sunday School next week will take place in the Den.
St. Aldhelm’s Orchestra
The Orchestra’s next concert will take place in church on Monday 22nd March at 7.30pm.

Toddlers
Toddlers will be holding a Sports Relief fundraising party on Thursday 18th March between 2pm—4pm, with a mini indoor sports event and obstacle course in the theme of “Lazy Town”. Please give them your sport or sponsor a “small person”!
