Introduction from Neil Revell - Head Teacher of St. Aldhelm’s C.E.

St. Aldhelm’s C.E. (V.A.) Combined School

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Head Teacher of St. Aldhelm’s C.E. (V.A.) Combined School. I know that I have the best job in the world as I am going to be able to spend each day:

· being inspired by 480 well-mannered, delightful children,
· working as part of a talented, inspirational team of staff and governors … and …
· meeting so many kind, caring parents and friends of our school.

Who could ask for more?

I have been made very welcome by everybody in our community and I would like to thank you all so much for this. The children at our school are very special people and, along with the whole team, I am constantly mindful of the responsibility upon me to prepare these children to thrive and flourish both now and in the future.

It is very important to me that our school is a Church school and Christian values are at the core of everything that happens at school. In a service to mark the beginning of my headship, Father Stephen said to me:

‘As the Head Teacher of this Church School you have a special responsibility to ensure that everyone in your school is valued and recognised as being a child of God, uniquely gifted by Him’ and asked if I would commit myself to this work.

I replied:
‘I will with the help of God.’

I promise to keep to my word here and to give my best to the children, staff, governors, parents and friends of our special school at all times.

I look forward to sharing school successes with you.

FULLY ALIVE – LENT COURSE

In the Autumn we were fortunate to run through with our Confirmation classes a version of the Diocese’s Fully Alive Course which Sarah has had a part in shaping. This Lent we have the opportunity to respond to the material in its finished form along with members of St. Joseph’s Church, our neighbouring Roman Catholic congregation.

The dates of the Sunday evening meetings and their venues are listed below: each starts at 6.30pm.

Bishop David has stated that the course is about responding to our Baptism by asking ourselves afresh, 'What are we going to do about our Baptisms? Does they make any difference to the way we live our lives and relate to others? How is God seeking to form us?' Bishop David says that the substance of the Fully Alive material is not so much a Bible Study or Discussion Group, as a Formation course. Come and try it. We will be ably guided by Reverend Sarah and it is really good that in our leadership we’ll be joined by Father Barry and Sister Marion of St. Joseph’s Church.

If you pay Income Tax, in each chair can be found a yellow giving envelope. Loose collection can be placed in these envelopes, completing the details requested (this will enable us to reclaim 28p in the £ from the Inland Revenue). If you are a non-tax payer, please put your loose collection straight into the collecting bag when this is passed round during the service.

Through our Planned Giving Scheme, church members commit a regular amount of money in order that we may be able to rely on a predictable income to meet our needs and responsibilities. Whilst we are grateful to those who contribute through the loose collections/Gift Aid envelopes, we need new members to join the Planned Giving scheme.

For further information please contact our Hon. Treasurer, Mr John Sprackling on (01202) 751553 or by e-mail via sprackling@branksomepark.freeserve.co.uk who will be please to provide you with a box of Weekly or Monthly envelopes or a standing order form.
