Dragon Boat Event - July 2009

On 12th July 2009 a team of Sunday School entrants from St Aldhelms Church, Branksome, Poole took part in the Poole Dragon Boat race, in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust.

All concentrate now on a demonstration of ' fair play ' from the Organisers.

Team shot in preparation for the races.

And they are off !!!!!

A great team performance all round, several race heats; just look at that concentration !!!!!

The end of the days racing, time for a team shot; well done to all !!!!!

The St Aldhelms Sunday School race team, A.K.A ' SAS Squad ', achieved an excellent set of times.....

Race One - was against the SUNSEEKER team, all very fit adult men - team SAS had a good mix of under 13 year olds and adults and achieved a great time of 1.29.22.
Race Two - a better time of 1.26.66 against WESTIE ALLSTARS.
Race Three - a three boat race - team SAS got a competative time of 1.22.36.
Our team didn't make it through to the final but the winning time wasn't much quicker than their best time. Our team by no means came last and we beat lots of other teams including 'The British Miliraty Fitness Team'.
Very well done SAS, who were : Sue Mitchell, Jonathon Hill, Jonathon Prentice, Jonathon Mitchell (JR), Emily McCarthy, Gail Drummond, Matt Hudson, Edward Linburn, Emma Torok, Sophie Noonan, Bridget Bell, Rachael Bell, Sammy Reed, Gary Waldron, Brian Beech, Paul Torok, and Father Stephen.
Well done and a special thanks to Sue Mitchell for all her hard work and efforts to organise the day.
Sponsorship from all the teams at Poole Park raised in excess of £22,000 towards the Anthony Nolan Trust to be spent adding more donors to the bone marrow donor list
