Baptism Service
Welcome to the family and friends of Esme and Eva who will be baptised during this mornings service.


Lent “Fully Alive”
The first of our joint Lent course sessions with St. Joseph’s is at 6.30pm this evening, the venue is here at St. Aldhelm’s, then we will alternate with St. Joseph’s. Full details are on the church notice board or yellow “Observing Lent” sheet.


Magazine Material
The deadline for material for the March issue today, please give your information to Father Stephen.

Parish Office
The office will re-open tomorrow morning following the half-term break.

Spring Fayre
Our Church Spring Fayre will take place in the centre on Saturday 27th March between 10.30am—12.30pm. If you have any donations please bring them to the parish office. Thank you.
Church Parish Report
Please could all groups associated with church, write a short piece about their group and what you have done in the past year and send it to Jan Kilminster by 5th March, for inclusion in the Parish Report.

Good Friday-Cross kids
After our Mothering Sunday service on 14th March there will be a meeting in church concerning the planning of this Good Friday’s three hour event for younger members of our congregation ; if you could help lend a hand in this, it would be much appreciated.

Toddlers
Following the half-term break the Todder Group will return on Thursday between 2pm—4pm in the parish centre. The group is open to all children from 0—5 years. For £1 you get lots of fun including a drink and biscuit, good place to for new parents/carers to make friends. See Heidi for more information or just pop along.

The Friends of St. Aldhelm’s
A big “THANK YOU” to the Friends of St. Aldhelm’s who have recently donated the new water heater for the back of church—so enjoy your cup of tea later!

The Friends would like your help in return; could you spare some time to help the Friends, they need a Chairperson. If you would like more information please see Roy Barker or Father Stephen.

Zenith Theatre Co
Zenith will be putting on their latest show “Little Red Hoody & The Wolves” on Friday12th and Saturday 13th March. Full details will be in the March magazine or on the poster at the back of church.

St. Aldhelm’s Orchestra
The Orchestra’s next concert will take place in church on Monday 22nd March at 7.30pm.

Walsingham 2010
There will be a pilgrimage to Walsingham between 24th and 27th May. For more information please see Jim Dray.

Our expenditure amounts to approximately £1,400 per week. This includes £850.11 per week which goes to the Diocese for our ‘Share’, Last weeks donations were as follows:
Planned Giving £ * figures not available at the time of writing (including standing orders)
Collections £ * Our income tax claim produces the equivalent of an additional £170 approx. per week. The shortfall is made up from fund raising.

If you pay Income Tax, in each chair can be found a yellow giving envelope. Loose collection can be placed in these envelopes, completing the details requested (this will enable us to reclaim 28p in the £ from the Inland Revenue). If you are a non-tax payer, please put your loose collection straight into the collecting bag when this is passed round during the service.

Through our Planned Giving Scheme, church members commit a regular amount of money in order that we may be able to rely on a predictable income to meet our needs and responsibilities. Whilst we are grateful to those who contribute through the loose collections/Gift Aid envelopes, we need new members to join the Planned Giving scheme.

Aladdin Parish Panto
Well done to everyone who was involved with the Parish Panto.



Palm Crosses
If you have your palm cross from last year; please give it to Father Stephen as he will burn them on Shrove Tuesday to make ash for Ash Wednesday.



Shrove Tuesday
On Tuesday 16th February will shall hold our pancake party in church from 5.30pm. Please bring a small frying pan with you to join the races around the outside of church.



Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is on 17th February; there will be services at 10.30am and at 7.00pm with Ashing.

Sarum Link
February’s Sarum Link (available at the back of church) carries an article on Father Stephen’s visit to Romania late last year; a fuller report is in the February parish magazine and there is also a feature on the Salisbury Diocese website.


Next Sunday
The 10.00am service will be a baptism service where we shall baptise Esme and Eva.

PARISH NEWS

Sunday, 07th February
This Sunday we begin to use an experimental Eucharistic prayer, at the invitation of our Diocese. We’ll be using this form for the next two All Age Services and then will go on to experiment with a further prayer during the summer.

Children’s Society Boxes
If you have a Children’s Society collection box, could you please give it to June Barker this morning. Thank you.


Tuesday– 12 noon
Tuesday’s midday Mass will be in the Ladychapel and will incorporate prayers for healing.

Discussion
This Wednesday we shall be joined by members of Bournemouth’s Islamic Community for a discussion about “The afterlife: what awaits us beyond earthly existence”. All welcome to join us from 7pm onwards in church.
Thursday—7pm
The service in church at 7pm will be a service of distribution with John Tubbs.

Panto Tickets
Final few tickets are available for next Friday and Saturday’s performances.


Parish Magazine
The February edition of the parish magazine is now available at the back of church—this includes details of our forthcoming “Fully Alive Lent Course”.
Thank you to the stapling team for putting the magazines together.



Lent
On the eve of Lent, Shrove Tuesday we shall be burning our old palm crosses to turn them into ask for the Ash Wednesday ceremonies: please bring last year’s crosses to church. At 5.30pm on Shrove Tuesday we shall hold our Parish Pancake Party in church.
